Public Comment Period open on proposed rule change regarding recreational fires in Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater

Olympic Region Clean Air Agency (ORCAA) scheduled a public hearing to consider changes to ORCAA’s Regulations, Rules 6.2.7 and 6.2.8, regarding the removal of the ban on recreational burning (i.e. “campfires”) within the city limits of Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater.

The rule change only removes language that sets up the special burn restrictions for the three cities, thus allowing Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater to be consistent with all other cities in ORCAA’s six-county jurisdiction and throughout western Washington. The changes can be seen in the document linked below.

On January 11, 2023, at 10 a.m., a formal hearing on the proposed regulation change will be held during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors at ORCAA’s office:

2940 Limited Lane NW
Olympia, WA 98502

Written comments on the change may be submitted to the agency at the address above, or via email to Dan Nelson until January 9, 2023, or presented (in person or via Zoom) at the public hearing on January 11, 2023. Information regarding the regulation change is available for review online below.
