Clallam County allows recreational fires – yard-waste burning still prohibited

Effective September 20, 2021, Clallam County burn ban has been REDUCED due to the fire threat level going back to moderate. Recreational fires and use of charcoal briquettes are now allowed in unincorporated Clallam County.

The National Park and DNR regulate their properties separately from the county so check with their respective requirements on their properties.

Recreational fires are still limited to 3 foot diameter and 24 inches in height.

The burn ban for residential yard-waste and land-clearing burning continues through September 30. Note that Washington state law prohibits outdoor burning (except recreational fires) in cities and Urban Growth Areas (UGAs). In Clallam County, those UGAs include Port Angeles, Sequim, Carlsborg, Forks, Joyce, Clallam Bay, and Sekiu.
