Mason County Fire-Safety Burn Ban called

As of June 6, 2023, Mason County officials have enacted a county-wide ban on land clearing and residential yard waste fires. This restriction applies to all land in the county not under DNR or Federal jurisdiction. The restriction follows a policy adopted by the Mason County Commissioners to be consistent with the Washington Dept. of Natural Resources (DNR) and restrict certain burning activities when the National Fire Danger Rating System is at a moderate level.

Recreational burning – campfires or cooking fires using charcoal or firewood in a metal, concrete or rock circle no larger than 3 feet in diameter – is permitted. Fire officials warn, however, that as warmer weather continues, this recreational fires may be restricted in the near future.

Please contact your local fire district for further information and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources for updates on burn restrictions at 1-800-323-BURN or visit their website at www.dnr.wa.gov/burn-restrictions .

Please contact ORCAA at 1-800-422-5623 or visit their website at www.orcaa.org for a full list of burn restrictions in the local and surrounding areas.
