Program Provides Funding for Clean School Buses

Parents, teachers, school administrators, and students should know about a wonderful opportunity to improve air quality around their schools and their communities.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched its 2022 Clean School Bus Program. This program, authorized by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, provides $5 BILLION over the next five years to replace existing diesel school buses with low- and zero-emission school buses. The program is open to any school district or entity operating public school buses.

Each year, approximately $500 million will be allocated strictly for electric school bus purchases and another $500 million for electric, hybrid, and other clean fuel buses.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021 authorizes EPA to offer these rebates. The 2022 Clean School Bus (CSB) Rebates process is currently accepting applications here. Additional program details can be found here (PDF).

EPA has created a series of webinars to explain the program and the application process. Click the link below for upcoming events and links to recordings of previous webinars. EPA Clean School Bus Outreach events.
