Mason County implements 2025 Fire Safety Burn Ban

burn ban for Mason County

Mason County fire officials announced a ban on all residential yard waste burning as well as land clearing burning earlier this month. This call for burn restrictions follows a policy adopted by the Mason County Commissioners to be consistent with the state Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and the National Fire Danger Rating System. When those agencies report fire danger is at a moderate level, Mason County rules require that all land clearing and residential burning shall be prohibited on all Mason County lands not under DNR or Federal jurisdiction.

Please note that recreational ‘campfires’ and propane and charcoal devices are still permitted. Recreational fires must be no more than 3 feet in diameter and burning only cordwood or charcoal. Note that the fire marshal warns that as warmer weather continues, recreational fires and some cooking devices may be restricted as well.
