Grays Harbor Air Quality GOOD, despite Glitch in EPA Forecast System

Despite what the reports to the contrary, the forecast for air quality in Grays Harbor County this week is GOOD.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Airnow.gov website currently shows the color-based air quality index (AQI) forecast for later today and tomorrow progress from good (green) to very unhealthy (purple) to hazardous (deep red). Those forecast numbers are shown to be related to elevated ozone levels. But ozone requires bright, hot sunshine and lots of UV light to be created – which is NOT in the weather forecast for Grays Harbor County this week. Worse, there are NO ozone monitors in Grays Harbor County.

In short, the EPA Airnow.gov website is glitching and reporting inaccurate forecasts.
