Despite the rains that have wet parts of the Olympic region this week, fire danger remains moderate to high through the area according to the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) fire danger rating system.
As a result of the elevated fire risks, ORCAA’s Land Clearing Burn Permit program remains suspended. This program will be reopened when the DNR deems the fire risks to be LOW.
Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Mason, Pacific and Thurston Counties have also extended their bans of residential yard waste burning until the fire risks drop. Recreational fires, however, are now allowed in those counties.
