Air is Clean Again, but concerns remain

Today, all of ORCAA’s Air Monitoring stations are “in the green,” meaning we have returned to our normal clean air conditions.

The onshore winds and rain have scoured our communities of wildfire smoke, but as long as hazardous fire conditions continue throughout the west, the threat of new smoke remains. A little rain isn’t enough to remove the fire dangers. With that in mind, ORCAA supports the state DNR and local fire districts in asking folks to remember that Fire Safety Burn Bans are in place in all counties throughout ORCAA’s jurisdiction – and in all of Washington.  The earliest any burn ban will be lifted is Oct. 1, though they could be extended well past that if fire dangers persist.

To receive updated information on any burn bans and other air quality news in ORCAA’s six counties – Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston – sign up for the agency’s email newsletters here.
