Air Quality Advisory extended into Thursday

The National Weather Service (NWS), in coordination with state and local clean air agencies including ORCAA, has extended the current Air Quality Alert into Thursday, Aug 23,  for Western Washington.

Though a light on-shore wind will sweep into Washington this evening (Wednesday), a substantial amount of smoke lies just offshore and that will have to push through the region before clear, clean air behind it gives Western Washington relief from the wildfire smoke in our communities.

ORCAA, other local air agencies, and the NWS staff will conference again Thursday morning to provide updates on the smoke situation and we’ll share details here.

In the meantime, the Washington DOH offers detailed information on how residents can best deal with smoke impacts on their homes and communities. That information can be found here: https://www.doh.wa.gov/CommunityandEnvironment/AirQuality/SmokeFromFires.
